Dr. Dani Ben-Zvi, Faculty Head: My research interests focus on two important aspects of human life: statistical reasoning and technology-enhanced learning. The first refers to the kind of thinking involved in creating and evaluating data-based claims that are used ubiquitously as means of forming credible arguments and of making decisions under uncertainty. All citizens need nowadays to be able to engage in this kind of thinking processes and have basic statistical literacy and numeracy skills. It should therefore be a standard ingredient of every learner's education. The second aspect, technology, is rapidly transforming the way people communicate and collaborate, consume information and create knowledge, learn and teach. Educational technologies can mediate and facilitate thinking about complex domains – such as statistics, mathematics or science, making them more accessible to all learners. e-mail: dbenzvi@univ.haifa.ac.il website: dbz.edtech.haifa.ac.il
Yotam Hod, Doctoral Student: I am a currently a doctoral student at the University of Haifa, within the education technologies program, under the academic supervision of Dr. Dani Ben Zvi. I am part of the Faculty of Education Doctoral Students Excellence Program. My primary research interests deal with technology-enhanced classroom learning communities. How are they designed and established? How do newcomers develop their understanding about what they are? What are the group processes that play an important part in learning? To answer these questions, I am currently analyzing data on a particular technology-enhanced learning community, based on reflective dialogue and wiki use. e-mail: yotamhod24@gmail.com website: yotamhod.edtech.haifa.ac.il
Shiri Hagani-Mor, Doctoral Student: I am a currently a doctoral student at the University of Haifa, within the education technologies program, under the academic supervision of Dr. Dani Ben Zvi. My primary research interests deal with dialogic perspectives to computer-enhanced collaborative learning and reflective learning, both from theoretical aspects and practical/design aspects. e-mail: shihag@gmail.com
Jacqui Basil- Shachar, Graduate Student: I am a graduate student at the University of Haifa, Educational Technologies Program, under the academic supervision of Dr. Dani Ben Zvi. I am interested in how norms emerge in technology-enhanced learning communities and how these norms and processes contribute to learning effects. I hold a teaching diploma from the National Institute of Education at NTU in Singapore. I am an English Language trainer at the Open University in Israel.
Ruthi Gofer, Doctoral Student (in preparation): I am a graduate student at the University of Haifa, within the educational technologies graduate program under the academic supervision of Dr. Dani Ben Zvi. My primary research interests deal with Metacognitive Thinking in Reflective Writing, focusing on Metacognitive Aspects of Writing Personal-Reflective Diaries in a Wiki-based Collaborative Learning Environment among Junior High School Students. I work as a teacher in "Galil" Jewish-Arab school in Misgav, and as an ICT teachers guide in the Ministry of Education Instructor. |
